Lifted by 3

Lifted by 3

Ever had an event that shook you for a moment? Something obnoxious that felt uncomfortable, crossed boundaries that dropped you in a sad fog. Then … something else happened? This blog is about optimism and self care with the power of 3.
Yesterday, I worked a busy 12-hour day. In the evening, I walked outside, breathed the cold night air and froze … someone had “lifted” (i.e stolen) the beautiful pot of flowers I had just put together a few days earlier. These flowers were placed next to the stone bench that faces our lovely, relaxing waterfall. The flowers were there to “lift” the hearts and spirits of visitors to Apositiva. Now someone came by and lifted this inspiration.
I felt very, very, very sad. A gloomy thought. Fear that the neighborhood wasn’t safe. Dis-respect for a lovely inspiration.
“Oh, well,” I thought. “Such is life … let it go,” I told myself.
I walked back inside my center. My partner Rich was there and I told him what happened. He reminded me of how many years we’d been here (well over a decade) and rarely had anything happened. I still felt a little sad. Then … my eyes landed on a lovely vase of red roses. I felt a rush of happiness!
That day, Bonnie, a sweet client, had given me the flowers. No reason.  She just wanted to do something nice and  share her heart. I felt lifted.
I turned and looked at my partner Rich, who had showed up with a bag of fresh hot fish tacos and a movie “The Fault in Our Stars,” because I had been caught up in working a 12-hour day to support me. I felt lifted.
The heater turned on, pushing the coolness of the air, and brought a whoosh of comfortable warmth. I felt lifted.

Lifted by 3

Three things “lifted” me like a crescendo. Gestures of 1) roses, 2) dinner and a movie, and 3) warm air. Suddenly I felt the sadness of the loss dissipate. Three things changed the sadness.

Self Care Tip

Optimism is a good thing, but sometimes things happen to bring you down. Maybe, “Oh, well. Such is life … let it go,” is a useful and optimistic and positive thought, but maybe you can lift yourself more. You can self care by changing your mental and emotional state. When you have something that brings you down, step back.
Look around you.
Find three (3) points of goodness.
You might hear the thoughts change, you may see the light, and feel more comfortable … lifted by 3.
Enjoy your day with joy, peace and love.
