Story Behind the Story by Cat Wilson

Story Behind the Story by Cat Wilson

Over the past few days, I have been vegging out on videos at home.  Why? I caught a flu bug. Movies help me go beyond the bug.  Entering into a story helps me focus on something else besides me. Let’s focus. This is about the story behind the story.
One video I saw was “Ender’s Game,” a movie about a young person chosen for a big role. In the future, Earth is preparing to be invaded and children are used in the military. Kids are trained in military maneuvers by playing video games. I won’t tell you much more, but it’s a video worth watching.
At the end of the movie, I went to the “bonus” section.  One bonus was the Director’s comments. I was on the couch and not going anywhere, so I thought, “What the heck? Why not.” So, I sat through the entire bonus, and I heard the story behind the story.

Story Behind the Story

While actors were fantastic in the movie, the production itself had to deal with lots of challenges. One vendor providing services went bankrupt. There were challenges with the set.  Some of the funding dropped out and the movie had far less cash to work with than they expected.  Did you know that 3 seconds of a movie can cost $100K? Wow!
When you get the view beyond the camera the story becomes so much more!  Hearing the perspective of the Director and why he did what he did further enhanced my understanding about the story.
In my work, people bring their movies to me. You are the Director of your movie. Your life, hopes, dreams, goals, and challenges. When you speak, we listen … and then we wait for the story behind the story. We are here when you are ready.

You have a story.
You also have a story behind the story.
Think about it.
You are so much more than you know.
